Dance has always been a language older than words. At Small House Dance Co., we use that language to tell the truth. Every piece we build serves a story. Every rehearsal is a chance to grow. Every performance is an invitation for our community to feel seen.
We are part of Small House Productions, rooted in the belief that storytelling is both an art form and a healing practice. Here, that belief takes shape in the body.
ANTHONY SMITH
CHAIR OF MOVEMENT & DANCE
Anthony K. Smith (Mr. A) is a native of Philadelphia, PA, and has been dancing since the age of 3. Most of his training was received from West Philadelphia High School, Progressive Center for Dance, Mickey's Dance School, Bodies in Motion, Philadanco, and the University of the Arts. He started choreographing in 1997 at West Philadelphia High School and Shelia Dance School.
Mr. A has had the pleasure of working with teachers and choreographers such as Ms. Chauntee Andrews, Itola, Wayne St. David, Ron Koresh, Kim Bears, Scott Jovovich, Brian Sanders, Ms. Carol Cubbage Davis, Anthony Burrell, Mia Michaels, and many more. He has performed with companies such as Grace, Me'lenge, Bodies in Motion, and Perfect Combination.
Mr. A has worked with Small House Productions for over a decade as choreographer and now joins our board as Chair of Movement & Dance for our newly established dance department!
